چکیده
با وجود اینکه تیمور بنیانگذار حکومت تیموریان پیروزی های درخشانی در جبهه های نظامی کسب کرد، ولی هرگز در صدد ایجاد مبانی مشروعیت مستقل از مغولان برنیامد.این راهبرد که در عهد جانشینان او نیز ادامه پیدا کرد، سیاست خارجی تیموریان را در روابط با مغولان منفعل نمود.بدین ترتیب آنان در برخورد با شاخه های مختلف مغول که در مرزهای شرقی و شمالی آن می زیستند، راه مصالحه و کم تنشی را پیمودند و هرگز درصدد برانداختن کامل آنان برنیامدند.پیامد آنی برخورد فوق این بود که مغولان علیرغم ضعفی که در این مقطع زمانی داشتند، توانستند تشکیلات سیاسی خویش را حفظ نمایند و در درازمدت به دنبال بروز ضعف در حکومت تیموریان به ضرر متصرفات حکومت تیموری وارد عمل شوند.این مقاله درصدد بیان چگونگی روابط تیموریان با یک شاخه از اقوام مغول همسایه یعنی مغولان حاکم بر دشت قبچاق شرقی است
